Grūbe HES
The Grube hydroelectric power station is located on the Vaidava river, on which twelve power plants once operated. Water power was used not only for grinding flour and the production of groats, but also for sawing logs, edging boards, splitting roofing chips, pre-processing sheep’s wool and generating electricity. In 1999, the Grube hydroelectric power station was renovated, where a modern Austrian flow turbine with double regulation was installed, which operated in automatic mode and ensured a constant level in the river. According to experts, the new power plant is currently the most modern small hydroelectric power plant in Latvia. There is also one of the old HPP turbines in the meadow near the HPP
